Dr. Ahmed Alnaggar

Position: Associate Director at LCMB, and Chair at Global Digital Twin Forum

Dr. Alnaggar has extensive industry and academic experience in the areas of digital construction, project/programme management, digital twin, and building automation. He is an advocate for industry 4.0 and the use of smart technology to revolutionise the way we design, build, and operate our buildings and cities. He is also the Founder and Chair of the Global Digital Twin Forum (GDTF). An initiative that aims to connect the international efforts in developing the Digital Twin agenda for the industry.

His current industry role is Associate Director, Building Performance Improvement at LCMB Building Performance Specialists where he is leading the product development, consultancy, and business development of a SaaS platform. This platform uses smart technology and the Internet of Things (IoT) to improve performance, optimise energy, and carbon emission for buildings. Before Joining LCMB, He held several leading industry roles in digital engineering, digital twin, and smart buildings development at Building Research Establishment (BRE), The Construction I+nnovation Hub (CIH), and Bouygues UK.

Dr. Ahmed’s industry-based PhD research at the Bartlett School of Sustainable Construction, UCL investigated digital transformation of lifecycle asset management using BIM and the Internet of things (IoT) as a part of a Digital Twin from a Socio-Technical lens. He also has an MSc degree in “Management of Information Systems” from University of Liverpool. Based on his research and industry work, he produced several academic publications and conducted presentations in leading national and international industry conferences about digital transformation and innovation in the built environment. He also held academic positions in digital transformation for the construction industry including the position of “Teaching Fellow” and “Research Fellow” at UCL.
