Position: Network and Systems Lead, Digital Twin, Saudi Aramco
Dr. Abdullah Al-Halafi holds KAUST Ph.D., Glasgow M.Sc., and KFUPM B.Sc., all in Electrical Engineering. He is currently Networks and Systems Specialist with Saudi Aramco, bringing more than 20 years of industrial, academic and research experiences, starting from a maintenance supervisor in SABIC, to Projects Manager in ABB where he successfully delivered large-scale communications and control systems projects. He later joined Saudi Aramco managing several projects before he was awarded a scholarship for an advanced degree program (PhD). Afterwards, he was assigned with R&DC leading the Advanced Sensors research. He then joined Process and Control Systems Department, Plants Network Group, supporting the Digital Transformation Program, developing and implementing Digital Twin for engineering and construction of mega projects, managing the deployment of IoT and Edge AI for safety monitoring applications, and forming strategies for wireless connectivity, wireless sensor networks, and industrial Internet-of-Things. Abdullah has several Patents, published in multiple IEEE top-tier conferences and journals, and is also invited regularly as a senior reviewer for leading IEEE journals. He volunteers as an Executive Committee Member of ISA, where he served as a Chief Editor for ISA-Saudi newsletter, a Conference Chairman, and currently is the Vice President of ISA-Saudi.
