Srimoyee Bhattacharya

Srimoyee Bhattacharya is a distinguished Data Science and Machine Learning Team Lead at Shell, responsible for delivering innovative digital solutions for the Upstream Gulf of Mexico, Chemicals & Products, and other Shell businesses. With over 15 years of experience in the Oil & Gas industry, she brings a unique blend of expertise in data science and petroleum engineering to solve complex real-world business challenges.

Srimoyee's academic journey began at the Indian Institute of Technology Kharagpur, where she earned her Bachelor of Technology in Chemical Engineering. She furthered her education with a PhD in Chemical Engineering from the University of Houston, focusing on data science applications and modelling of Unconventional Reservoirs.

Joining Shell in 2013 as a Research Reservoir Engineer in Projects and Technology, Srimoyee made significant contributions to multiple unconventional assets. She then advanced to a lead reservoir engineer role in Permian, focusing on development and planning strategies.

An accomplished author, Srimoyee co-authored a book on machine learning applications in the Oil & Gas industry, published by Apress. She also served as a Technical Editor for esteemed publications like the SPE Journal, Journal of Natural Gas Science and Engineering, and Journal of Sustainable Energy Engineering. Her prolific writing career includes over 25 peer-reviewed journal articles, conference publications, and patent applications, establishing her as a thought leader in her field.

As a speaker, Srimoyee is known for her engaging presentations at various industry conferences, where she shares her insights and experiences. Her commitment to knowledge sharing reflects her dedication to the advancement of her field.
